Exhibition: Book Illustrations 8 May

The organiser of Blackyard, Mesi, took a year off but is back at work with renewed vigour, and so the next exhibition in the ‘Book Images’ series is just around the corner. This marks my third time taking part.

Each exhibition has a specific theme. This year’s theme is: Bestiarium. So rather than the usual items, you’ll see posters and designs created specifically for the exhibition’s theme.

In 2024, tarot was a hot topic and all the artists could sign up for a theme: I chose Death.
At the last minute, I spontaneously came up with the idea for a silly social media campaign. You’ve got to have a bit of fun.

"Sex" was the theme of the 2023 exhibition. Naturally, Venus couldn’t be left out.
This rather harmless illustration has already been banned from all social media platforms.

The theme here was ‘animals’. But what really stuck in my mind was the opening, which was the first time people who didn’t know each other well had gathered since the pandemic. It was brilliant.
